1. Pleasant Valley 14-0
Continue to be the last undefeated 4A team in the state. Moving into what may be their toughest week of the season. 7 games highlighted by a tough 3A Western Dubuque team, 4A # 8 IC High, Waukee, and then Waukee, Urbandale and Waukee in the Brent Prange Classic this weekend in Des Moines.
2. Johnston 18-3
Finished the week 4-2 with losses to Jackson Wentworth at Waukee and splitting a DH with Dowling. Will be challenged this week with SEP and Urbandale double headers as well as Indianola and Davenport Assumption in the Prange.
3. Dowling 18-2
Freshman Blake Larson is emerging into one of the most dominating arms in the state. They continue to rack up wins and don’t look to be slowing down.
4. CR Prairie 18-3
Followed up a tough DH with IC High with 6 straight quality wins (2 Linn Mar, 2 Wahlert, 2 Western Dubuque)
5. Hempstead 16-3
6 wins in the last week – they continue to be one of the best teams on the east side of the state. 2 huge matchups left on the schedule with CR Prairie and Pleasant Valley.
6. Ankeny 14-6
Brody Brecht continues to dominate and is rising up draft boards. A favorable schedule the rest of the way should lead to a strong finish for the hawks.
7. Norwalk 18-1
Even though they haven’t played the competition that many of the other ranked teams have played – you can’t ignore 18-1. It will be interesting to see how the state groups them for the postseason this week.
8. IC High (New) 17-5
New into the rankings this week. Currently riding a 6 game win streak, several quality wins on the season highlighted by a DH sweep of #4 CR Prairie.
9. Davenport West (New) 15-2
A great start for the Falcons including 11 wins in a row. Will be challenged in the coming weeks with doubleheaders against North Scott, Central Dewitt and Pleasant Valley.
10. SC East 18-4
The Black Raiders continue to put up impressive numbers at the plate and on the mound. With no ranked teams currently on their schedule, they should continue to dominate.
